Dependable visitor figures start with a correct installation. In busy stores, malls and public buildings this matters even more, because a counter mounted at the wrong height or angle will miss people when the entrance is crowded.
Top Tips for Mounting in High-Traffic Areas
Choose the right height
Mount your WELLPOINT People Counter 1.2 to 1.4 meters above the floor, beside the entrance on the door frame or wall; an anti-theft gate is also possible.
Mount at a right angle to the walking direction
The counter should face straight across the doorway. Do not angle it toward the inside or the outside.
Keep the doorway clear
Make sure nothing stands permanently between the counter and the other side of the doorway, such as a display stand, a banner or an open door leaf.
Use several counters for wide entrances
One device covers a doorway up to about 2.4 m. For wider entrances, mount several devices and group them in WELLPOINT.cloud as one entrance.
Plan power and connection
The counter needs a mains socket near the door for its 5 V USB power adapter. It sends its counts over built-in mobile data; where the signal is weak, Wi-Fi is also possible.
Test after mounting and after changes
Walk through the door a few times and check that entries and exits appear correctly in the dashboard. Repeat this whenever the entrance area is rearranged.
Benefits
- The right height and angle give reliable entry and exit counts.
- Grouped devices cover even the widest entrances.
- Nothing to set up on your network.
- The camera-free design does not identify visitors.
Why Correct Placement Pays Off
When every entrance is measured the same way, the figures in WELLPOINT.cloud – every 5 minutes on PLUS and PRO, hourly on LITE – can be trusted for staffing and planning.
An illustrative example
A shopping mall with a main entrance about 6 m wide could mount three counters there and group them as one entrance, with a single device at each side entrance.
Pro tip
Standardize the mounting height, orientation and detection direction across all your locations, and write them down.
The WELLPOINT People Counter (Pulse V3) comes with a mounting bracket and two adhesive strips and is ordered on visitorcount.com.
