In busy places such as retail stores, airports, banks and service centers, long queues hurt customer satisfaction and put pressure on staff. Traditional queue management relies on someone noticing the line and calling for help, usually late. Better planning starts earlier: knowing when visitors arrive and how many are in the building.
A WELLPOINT People Counter does not measure the queue itself, but its data shows when queues are likely to form.
Real-Time Visibility into Busy Periods
The counter counts entries and exits at the entrance. WELLPOINT.cloud shows visitors by hour and current occupancy – entries minus exits, based on the latest synchronized counts. The data is real-time, with data updates every 5 minutes on PLUS and PRO (hourly on LITE).
When arrivals pick up, managers who watch the dashboard can open another service point or call in staff before the line grows. A waiting room with its own doorway can be counted separately; the length of a line in front of a desk is not measured.
Optimizing Staffing and Service Points
The bigger benefit comes from history. Hourly and daily reports and monthly trends reveal recurring busy periods – Monday mornings, lunch hours, the days after payday, the weeks before holidays. Staffing and the number of open checkouts or desks can be planned around them.
Over time, this reduces pressure on the team and helps keep waits short, because people are in place when demand arrives.
Privacy-First and Scalable Technology
The Pulse V3 does not capture images or identify visitors. Only anonymous entry and exit counts are transmitted from the counter, so there is no video of customers standing in line.
Several locations can be managed in one WELLPOINT.cloud account, which makes it easy to compare branches and share good staffing practices.
Improving Experience Through Better Planning
Queue management is about calmer, better-planned service for customers and staff. Dependable visitor counts help organizations move from reacting to lines to planning for them.
The WELLPOINT People Counter (Pulse V3) mounts beside the entrance, runs on a 5 V USB power adapter and is ready in about 5 minutes. On PLUS and PRO, reports can be exported as CSV for staff scheduling. Devices and plans are on visitorcount.com.
