Many organizations now run connected devices across many sites. Adding another data source sounds simple, but every new device type raises the same questions: who installs it, which network does it use, who maintains it, and how does its data reach the systems that need it? A scalable IoT network answers these questions once and repeats the answer at every site.
People counting is a good example, because visitor numbers matter to operations, marketing and facility teams alike. Here is how WELLPOINT fits in.
Real-Time Visibility Across Connected Environments
The WELLPOINT People Counter (Pulse V3) counts entries and exits separately at a doorway. WELLPOINT.cloud shows visitors by hour and day, monthly trends and current occupancy – entries minus exits, based on the latest synchronized counts. The data is real-time, with data updates every 5 minutes on PLUS and PRO (hourly on LITE).
Facility managers get a clear picture of how buildings are used: which entrances carry the most traffic, which hours are busiest, how occupancy develops through the day. Staffing, cleaning rounds and opening hours can be planned around measured demand rather than estimates.
Teams that operate heating, ventilation or lighting can use the same history to review their schedules. The decision stays with the people who run those systems; the counter supplies the visitor numbers.
Scalability Without Operational Friction
Many IoT projects work well at one location but slow down when rolled out to dozens of sites, often because every site needs network changes. The Pulse V3 avoids that: built-in mobile data is included in every plan, so there is no network cable and nothing to set up on the customer’s network. Wi-Fi is also possible where mobile signal is weak.
Setup takes about 5 minutes per device: plug in the 5 V USB power adapter, register the serial number in WELLPOINT.cloud, hold the button for 3 seconds to sync and mount the counter beside the entrance. Entrances wider than about 2.4 m use several devices, grouped as one entrance, and all sites sit in one account.
To connect with other systems, PLUS and PRO offer CSV export for Excel or an ERP. On PRO, the API can be used to integrate WELLPOINT visitor counts with POS, BI or other business systems (see the API documentation).
Secure and Privacy-First by Design
On built-in mobile data, the counter does not join the corporate network, so it stays outside the customer’s IT perimeter, and it sends its data over a secure connection.
Privacy is built into the sensor. The Pulse V3 does not capture images or identify visitors. Only anonymous entry and exit counts are transmitted from the counter.
Building Future-Ready Connected Spaces
A scalable IoT network works when each component is easy to deploy, easy to maintain and clear about the data it delivers. WELLPOINT visitor counts give operations teams a dependable planning input, and the PRO API brings it into the tools they already use.
The counters are built for global use; built-in mobile data works in supported countries and network coverage areas. Devices and plans (LITE, PLUS or PRO) are ordered on visitorcount.com.
