Productive workplaces depend on good planning: enough meeting rooms when teams need them, quiet space for focused work and the right number of people on duty at busy times. WELLPOINT People Counters support this with anonymous entry and exit counts at the doors of buildings, floors and rooms. They do not follow individual employees; they show how much spaces are used.

Understanding Workspace Utilization

Are some rooms overcrowded while others stay empty? Are the new collaboration rooms used at all? A counter beside the doorway of a meeting room, lounge or floor counts entries and exits, and WELLPOINT.cloud shows visits by hour and day and current occupancy – entries minus exits, based on the latest synchronized counts. The figures are real-time, with data updates every 5 minutes on PLUS and PRO (hourly on LITE).

With this information, leaders get a clear view of:

  • Peak usage times for meeting rooms, lounges and other rooms with their own entrance
  • Underused spaces that could be repurposed or resized
  • Busy and quiet days for the whole building, measured at the main entrances

An open-plan area without its own doorway can be measured only through counters at the entrances that lead into it.

Optimizing Staffing and Scheduling

Visitor flow data also helps with staffing at front desks, reception, canteens and service points. When the counts show peak periods, managers can adjust schedules so the right number of people are on duty at the right time, and avoid overstaffing in quieter hours.

Monthly trends and totals per location support long-term planning, for example for seasonal swings, event days or a gradual change in how often people come to the office.

Enhancing Collaboration and Employee Experience

Usage figures for shared rooms show which spaces are in demand and which ones people avoid. Organizations can use this to:

  • Add or enlarge collaboration rooms that are regularly full
  • Place quiet rooms away from the busiest entrances
  • Match canteen or lounge opening hours to the measured busy hours

When the workspace fits how teams actually work, it supports both productivity and day-to-day well-being.

Privacy-First Analytics for Peace of Mind

Any measurement in a workplace raises the question of employee monitoring. The Pulse V3 does not capture images or identify visitors. Only anonymous entry and exit counts are transmitted from the counter. Its time-of-flight (ToF) sensor cannot tell one person from another, so the data says nothing about who was in a room or how long a given employee worked.

This makes the system easy to explain to your data protection officer and employee representatives. It is GDPR-friendly by design: no camera, no images, no identification of people – only anonymous entry and exit counts. Full GDPR compliance also depends on the specific data-processing context.

Data Access for Business Efficiency

WELLPOINT.cloud is a browser dashboard that also works on a phone, with hourly and daily reports, monthly trends and several sites in one account. On PLUS and PRO, the data can be exported as CSV for Excel or an ERP. On PRO, the API can be used to integrate WELLPOINT visitor counts with POS, BI or other business systems (see the API documentation).

What Organizations Can Expect

Results depend on how the data is used. An organization that reviews room usage regularly could, for example:

  • Turn rarely used meeting rooms into focus rooms
  • Plan reception and canteen staff around measured busy hours
  • Base office space decisions on months of usage data
  • Check whether a layout change actually changed how often a room is used

Getting Started with WELLPOINT

The Pulse V3 is mounted on the door frame or wall beside the doorway, 1.2 to 1.4 m above the floor, runs on a 5 V USB power adapter and needs no network cable; setup takes about 5 minutes. Devices and plans are ordered on visitorcount.com.
