Supermarkets run on tight margins and tight schedules. Checkout staff, deliveries, restocking and promotions all have to fit the hours when customers actually come. Retail people counting gives grocery managers that timetable in numbers: how many shoppers enter, at which hour and on which day.
WELLPOINT people counting technology counts entries and exits at every entrance with a camera-free sensor, and WELLPOINT.cloud shows the results hour by hour and store by store.
Knowing When Shoppers Come with Retail People Counting
Every supermarket has its own rhythm. A neighborhood store may be busiest after work, a large store on Saturday morning. Hourly and daily reports make that rhythm visible. On PLUS and PRO the data is real-time, with data updates every 5 minutes; LITE updates hourly.
If the reports show that traffic always rises between 17:00 and 19:00 on weekdays, checkout staffing can be planned for exactly those hours. Deliveries and restocking can be moved to the quiet hours, so staff are free when the store fills up.
Stores with more than one entrance get figures per entrance, and the occupancy monitoring view shows the current occupancy, entries minus exits, based on the latest synchronized counts.
Turning Foot Traffic into Profitable Insights
The most valuable figure for a supermarket is often the conversion rate: the number of receipts divided by the number of visitors. You take the receipts from your own till system and the visitors from WELLPOINT.cloud. A falling conversion rate on busy days can point to long queues or empty shelves; a rising one after a change of layout suggests the change worked.
Visitor numbers also help to judge promotions. If a weekly leaflet or a local campaign brings more people through the door, the daily reports will show it, and you can compare it with similar weeks without the campaign.
Supermarket chains can compare all their stores in one account. With CSV export on PLUS and PRO, the counts go into the weekly management report, and on PRO, the API can be used to integrate WELLPOINT visitor counts with POS, BI or other business systems.
Privacy-First Shopper Analytics
The counter works without a camera. The Pulse V3 does not capture images or identify visitors. Only anonymous entry and exit counts are transmitted from the counter. It is GDPR-friendly by design; full GDPR compliance also depends on the specific data-processing context.
Driving Grocery Performance with Data
Supermarket entrances are often wide. One WELLPOINT People Counter (Pulse V3) covers a doorway of up to about 2.4 m; wider entrances use several devices that WELLPOINT.cloud groups into one entrance. Each counter is mounted beside the entrance at 1.2 to 1.4 m and only needs a socket for its 5 V USB power adapter. Order it on visitorcount.com.
