Museums have always counted visitors, often with a clicker at the ticket desk or a rough estimate at the end of the day. Museum visitor analytics with automatic people counting replaces those estimates with measured figures per day, per hour and per entrance, and that changes how a museum can plan.

WELLPOINT people counting technology counts entries and exits at the doors you choose, without a camera, and shows the results in WELLPOINT.cloud.

1. Knowing Which Exhibitions Draw Visitors

When a temporary exhibition has its own entrance, a counter at that door shows how many visitors it attracts each day compared with the permanent collection. Over the run of the exhibition, the figures show whether interest grows, peaks or fades, which is useful for planning the next one.

2. Planning Around Busy Hours

Hourly reports show when the museum is busiest: school groups in the morning, families at the weekend, a late opening on Thursday. Front-of-house staff, guides and cloakroom teams can be scheduled for those hours. The occupancy monitoring view shows the current occupancy, entries minus exits based on the latest synchronized counts, so staff can compare it with their own permitted maximum. On PLUS and PRO the data is real-time, with data updates every 5 minutes; LITE updates hourly.

3. Better Exhibition Planning

History builds up quickly. After a year, a museum can see which seasons, themes and events brought the most visitors and plan its program with that in mind. Galleries with their own entrances can be compared with each other in the same reports.

4. Clear Figures for Management and Funders

Annual reports, board meetings and grant applications all ask for visitor numbers. With monthly totals per location and CSV export on PLUS and PRO, the figures are ready for reports. Museums with several sites or branches see all of them in one account, and on PRO, the API can be used to integrate WELLPOINT visitor counts with POS, BI or other business systems.

5. Privacy-First Counting

Visitors come to look at art, not to be looked at. The Pulse V3 does not capture images or identify visitors. Only anonymous entry and exit counts are transmitted from the counter. It is GDPR-friendly by design; full GDPR compliance also depends on the specific data-processing context. A small sensor on the door frame also fits historic interiors better than a camera.

Planning Museums with Data

Reliable visitor figures help museums plan staff, opening hours and exhibitions, and show their impact to the people who fund them. The WELLPOINT People Counter (Pulse V3) is mounted beside the entrance at 1.2 to 1.4 m, runs on a 5 V USB power adapter and needs no network cable. Order it on visitorcount.com.
